Springfield craft beer producer Mother's Brewing Co. partnered with Walnut Shade-based Copper Run Distillery for a whiskey product utilizing the beer company's summer seasonal.
About 700 bottles of what has been dubbed Hopped Up Wheat Whiskey have been made available in a limited supply, according to a Mother's news release.
“Mother’s has made it a priority to partner with local businesses as much as possible since the day we opened our doors,” said Jeremy Wicks, the company's director of marketing, in the release. “The people over at Copper Run are a great group, and we are always excited to collaborate with them.”
Copper Run utilized Mother's summer wheat beer Sandy as the wash. The product was then double distilled and aged in Missouri oak barrels for two years. The companies say the final product is a golden whiskey with the flavors of malt, hop and grain, as well as orange blossom and grapefruit aromas.
Currently, Copper Run is selling the beverage at its Walnut Shade tasting room and through its website. The companies also are planning tasting events, according to the release.
According to
