Mostly Serious shuffles executive roles

Posted online

Springfield website design and digital marketing firm Mostly Serious LLC shuffled its executive roles via promotions.

Founding owner Jarad Johnson transitioned to CEO from president; Director of Operations Spencer Harris became president; and Sarah Jenkins was named creative director after previously serving as senior copywriter, according to a news release. Johnson said via email that the responsibilities of the operations director role would be split by Harris and a business manager the company plans to hire. Jenkins takes over for Jessica Spencer, who recently exited the company, Johnson said.

As CEO, Johnson will focus on the 15-employee company's strategic vision, outside partnerships and long-term decisions. Harris will manage the day-to-day functions of Mostly Serious, with Jenkins overseeing day-to-day creative work and the company's creative department.

“Our growth – in team size, client accounts and the type of work we produce for those clients – has resulted in an increased need to put dedicated focus on the functions that will help us work toward our vision for the future,” Johnson said in the release.

Harris joined Mostly Serious in 2017, and Jenkins came on board in 2019.

“I have been honored to spend the last four years building our operational systems and working closely with Jarad and our team to develop our long-term vision and goals for Mostly Serious,” Harris said in the release. “Sarah’s been such an important part of our recent growth, and her experience and expertise has helped us evolve our thinking about projects, partnerships and organization.”

Mostly Serious in 2019 won the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce's W. Curtis Strube Small Business Award. The company reported 2019 revenue of roughly $1.3 million for Springfield Business Journal's 2020 Economic Impact Awards.

Founded in 2010, the company's local clients have included Burrell Behavioral Health, CoxHealth, Jordan Valley Community Health Center and Mother’s Brewing Co.
