Morgan Stanley handily beats profit outlook

Morgan Stanley announced today second-quarter profit was $1.81 billion as the company managed to wade through an environment of brisk deal-making and volatile markets.

Earnings per share were 85 cents.

Analysts expected earnings of 74 cents per share, according to Dow Jones Newswires.
