More Mexicans left than came to US in past 5 years

A Pew Research Center report released last week found more Mexicans left the U.S. than entered the country during the past five years.

The report found 1 million Mexicans and their families, including U.S.-born children, left the U.S. for Mexico 2009-14. During that time, roughly 870,000 Mexicans entered the U.S.

While tougher enforcement of immigration laws has been a significant factor in the reversal, the report indicated most were leaving on their own. Mexico is witnessing a slow economic recovery, and exiting Mexican people may miss their families, according to the report.
