More businesses join Downtown Dollars program

After just more than a year, Springfield’s Downtown Dollars gift certificate program has expanded to include 57 businesses now covering center city, Commercial Street and historic Walnut Street.

The program, a partnership between Great Southern Bank and Urban Districts Alliance, began in November 2006 with 34 downtown businesses. Now, 44 are participating, as well as 11 on Commercial Street and two on Walnut Street.

Downtown Dollar gift certificates may be purchased dollar-for-dollar at www.itsalldowntown.com; Great Southern locations at 430 South Ave., 1451 E. Battlefield Road and 507 E. Kearney St.; and UDA, 304 W. McDaniel St.

Certificates can be redeemed at any participating business: A Perfect Studio, 2nd Stage Peformance Theatre, A Valeria Boss Salon, Big Whiskey’s American Bar, Bruno’s, Coesters Sports Bar and Grill, The Coffee Ethic, Discovery Center, Downtown Tans & Oxygen Bar, Ellie Berry Pie, Ernie Biggs Piano Bar, Fitzwilly’s Gifts and Antiques, Gadgets and More by Gold Minds, Gailey’s Breakfast Café, Gilt Antiques and Decorative Gifts, Global Fayre, Good Girl Art Gallery, Hickok’s Steakhouse & Brewery, High Strung, Hyde Gallery, Icon Night Club, INDIE Designs, Jordan Creek Bar & Grill, Marco’s Pizzeria, Mille’s Café, Moxie Cinema, Mud House, Mud Lounge, O’Connell’s Center City Grocery, Pastiche Decor & Design, Patton Alley Pub, Planet Smoothie, Quiznos Subs, Riad, Shae Belle, Shires for Hire, Springfield Brewing Co., Springfield Hot Glass Studio, Springfield Little Theatre, Staxx, Trader’s Printing, Trolley’s Downtown Bar & Grille, Well Fed Head Books, Askinosie Chocolate, Bridgefield Galleries Catfish & Crystal Shoppe, Cook’s Kettle Restaurant, Eclectic Antiques, Fusion Stained Glass Studio, Lindberg’s, Peabody’s, Professional Massage Training, Rathbone Ace Hardware, Red Books & Chairs, 210 West Galleries & Gifts, Darklight Gallery & Studio, and Walnut Street Inn Bed & Breakfast.
