Monsanto's sales reach $15.9B in fiscal 2014

Monsanto's fiscal 2014 sales increased 6.7 percent to reach $15.86 billion, driven by a record year for the company's soybean business, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

Earnings were $2.76 billion for the year, a 9.4 percent increase from last fiscal year. However, the company reported a fourth-quarter loss of $156 million, compared to a $249 million loss in the same quarter a year earlier.

For the fiscal year as a whole, seeds and genomics sales were $10.7 billion, led by its soybean portfolio that achieved a 27 percent increase over the prior year.
