Monsanto reports 3Q profit bump

Monsanto on Wednesday reported third-quarter net income of $1.1 billion, up from $858 million in the prior-year period, as net sales rose 8 percent to nearly $4.6 billion.

The St. Louis-based company announced its corn seeds and traits segment brought in $1.5 billion of revenue, up from $1.3 billion a year ago.

According to the St. Louis Business Journal, operating expenses increased to nearly $1.1 billion.
