Monsanto has $10B alternative to appease regulators in Syngenta deal

As Monsanto Co. tries to smooth the way for a potential deal with fellow agribusiness giant Syngenta AG, much has been made of Monsanto’s efforts to sell Syngenta’s seed business as a way to please antitrust regulators.

Analysts at investment bank Piper Jaffray have an alternative. Monsanto could sell its own chemical division.

According to the St. Louis Business Journal, Monsanto could fetch as much as $10 billion for its Roundup business.
