Monsanto, Bayer launch $2.5B asset sale

Monsanto Co. and Bayer AG are seeking the sale of $2.5 billion in assets to help ease approval of their pending $66 billion merger.

Industry experts expect Bayer to consider selling its soybean, cotton and canola seed assets along with its LibertyLink crops brands.

Bayer is looking to close on the purchase of Monsanto by the end of the year.
