Monsanto agrees to $66B buyout by Bayer

St. Louis-based Monsanto Co. agreed to a $66 billion buyout by German pharmaceutical and crop chemicals manufacturer Bayer AG.

The boards of both companies unanimously approved the agreement of $128 per share.

"We believe that this combination with Bayer represents the most compelling value for our shareowners, with the most certainty through the all-cash consideration,” said Monsanto CEO Hugh Grant.
