MoDOT to show plans for Kearney project

Posted online
Missouri Department of Transportation is holding a public meeting tonight to show plans for making part of Kearney Street five lanes wide.

The meeting will be 4–7 p.m. at the MoDOT District Office, 3025 E. Kearney St. MoDOT engineers and officials will be on hand to show the plans and right-of-way needed to create five lanes on Kearney, also called Route 744.

The $1.3 million project calls for two through-lanes in each direction and a center turn lane between Route 65 and LeCompte Road. It also would modify Kearney on the bridge over Route 65 to improve traffic flow for eastbound traffic. The left-turn lane to northbound Route 65 would begin at Mayfair Avenue, and a through-lane will carry traffic across the bridge east of Route 65. The existing right-turn lane on Kearney to southbound Route 65 will be unchanged.

The proposed project would begin next summer and be finished by the end of 2008 or early 2009.

The city of Springfield is a partner in the project and is contributing funds.[[In-content Ad]]
