Engineers will talk one-on-one with guests, and exhibits on traffic volumes and other data will be displayed. The open-house-style meeting is 4–7 p.m. at the MoDOT District Office, 3025 E. Kearney St.
The meeting is part of MoDOT’s study, called I-44 Planning for Progress, to pinpoint problems along the east-west corridor, according to a MoDOT news release. The study looks at the roadway’s physical condition, traffic flow, congestion, crash problems, property issues and environmental concerns, and how those issues affect shipping, business traffic, commuter use and recreational travel.
No money has been allocated for the I-44 project, but the study will allow planners to identify deficiencies and set up short-term and long-term priorities, according to the release. As money becomes available, projects can be developed that make sense locally and fit the overall strategy for the corridor.
I-44 meetings already have been held in Mount Vernon, Rolla, Waynesville and Cuba. An Oct. 9 meeting will be held in Joplin, an Oct. 10 meeting will be held in St. Clair and an Oct. 15 meeting will be held in Lebanon.
More information on the I-44 study is available at www.modot.org/i44planningforprogress. To submit input on the project, e-mail i44planningforprogress@modot.mo.gov or mail to I-44 Planning for Progress, 105 W. Capitol Ave., Jefferson City, MO, 65102.[[In-content Ad]]
