MoDOT to auction excess assets for more revenue

Posted online
The Missouri Department of Transportation is auctioning off excess equipment on the Internet next week to raise funds.

MoDOT has contracted with Manhattan, Kan.-based Purple Wave Auction to sell items including dump trucks, utility trucks and trailers to raise money in a tight economic environment, according to a MoDOT news release.

The department has worked with Purple Wave three times so far this fiscal year and raised $243,120. Items sold in previous auctions include wheel loaders, pickup trucks, tractors, flatbed trucks and dump trucks.

Purple Wave was chosen, according to the release, because of its transparency policy, allowing bidders to see detailed pictures of each asset, seller contact information and final selling price. The online system also saves MoDOT the cost of transporting items to and from auction sites.[[In-content Ad]]
