A Missouri Department of Transportation official said the state agency is facing a shortage of snowplow drivers.
Steve Campbell, who is based in Springfield as Southwest District engineer for MoDOT, said the department has hundreds of unfilled job openings. COVID-19 is a primary factor.
“We’re not where we would like to be, in that category or many others. But it’s just a situation we can’t control," Campbell said, noting MoDOT would be working to keep as many snowplows on the road as possible day and night amid a winter storm in Missouri.
