MODOT looking for comments on planned projects

Posted online

The Missouri Department of Transportation and other agencies want to know what you think of transportation improvements proposed or planned by state and regional planners for the next five years. Improvements are outlined in the Statewide Transportation Improvement Program, which includes MoDOT's five-year program projects for highways and aviation, rail, waterways and transit improvements.

"This public comment period is an excellent opportunity for us to learn what people think of the state's transportation priorities and what we can do to improve," MoDOT Director Henry Hungerbeeler said in a MoDOT press release.

Hungerbeeler said the STIP was prepared from public input gathered through a variety of sources, including meetings, letters, telephone calls and surveys.

"MoDOT wants public comments on the projects in the STIP and whether the right issues, such as economic development and preservation, are being adequately addressed," Hungerbeeler said.

The STIP can be viewed at MoDOT's Web site,

www.modot.state.mo.us/stip2K.

Copies are also available for public review at the department's district offices in Springfield.

Written and oral comments will be accepted through Oct. 18 and should be directed to STIP Comments, Office of Transportation Program Management, MoDOT, PO Box 270, Jefferson City 65102. Comments can also be sent by e-mail to vosse@mail.modot.state.mo.us.
