Missouri's average retail gasoline prices rose 11.8 cent per gallon during the past week, averaging $3.63 per gallon April 10.
State prices are 24.6 cents per gallon higher than a month ago and have increased 91.9 cents per gallon year-to-date, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
The least expensive gas - as of 8:45 a.m. - was available for $3.46 a gallon at Murphy USA in Marshall, which is about 146 miles north of Springfield. The most expensive gas could be found for $3.85 a gallon at Phillips 66 in St. Louis.
The cheapest gas in Springfield was $3.55 a gallon at Sam's Club, 745 W. El Camino Alto St.
The national gas average increased 7.7 cents per gallon during the past week, averaging $3.74 a gallon yesterday. The nationwide average shows a 21 cent increase from the same day in March and has increased 87.2 cents per gallon year-to-date.
The U.S. price per barrel for crude oil was $107.01 as of April 1, compared to $77.77 per barrel a year before, according to the most recent data available from the
U.S. Energy Information Administration.
Light sweet crude oil futures for May were trading at $112.12 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange as of 8:55 a.m., according to the
CME Group. May futures were trading at $107.90 a barrel the morning of April 4, according to
Springfield Business Journal archives.
