MO unemployment rate hits lowest point in three years

Missouri's seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate dropped to 7.3 percent in April, its lowest level in 40 months. Comparatively, the U.S. unemployment rate for April was 8.1 percent.

The latest unemployment figure dropped a tenth of a point month-to-month, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

During April, nonfarm employers added 6,000 jobs on a seasonally-adjusted basis, and according to the release, Missouri has added 35,000 jobs since Jan. 1.

March's nonfarm employment also was revised upward to 6,800 jobs from DED's originally reported 4,800 figure.
