Posted online
Missouri's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 8.9 percent in May, unchanged from the April rate, according to recently released data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

The state's May unemployment rate, however, is six-tenths of a point lower than the same month in 2010.

Missouri's civilian labor force increased by 4,700 jobs to 3,037,100, compared to 3,032,400 in April. In May 2010, the civil labor force was 3,019,000, according to the BLS.

During May, 24 states reported unemployment rate decreases, 13 states and the District of Columbia reported increases and 13 states saw no changes.[[In-content Ad]]
