MO unemployment rate falls to 49-month low

In November, Missouri's unemployment rate dropped to 6.7 percent, its lowest level in 49 months.

Last month's jobless rate dropped two-tenths of a point from the October rate of 6.9 percent, which was flat from September.

Though employment in the state decreased by 6,800 jobs in November, 31,000 new jobs have been created since December 2011, according to a news release from the Missouri Department of Economic Development.

Missouri's November jobless rate was a percentage point below the U.S. unemployment rate last month of 7.7 percent. According to the DED, Missouri's unemployment rate has been lower than the national average for 39 consecutive months.
