Mo. malpractice insurance firms merge

Medical liability insurance firms Missouri Professionals Mutual and Physicians Professional Indemnity Association have merged to create MPM-PPIA.

According to the St. Louis Business Journal, MPM-PPIA covers nearly 1,800 physicians and other caregivers.

"We have created the largest Missouri professional liability insurance carrier while providing greater benefits to our members, increased and improved services and stability like no other Missouri mutual company," Dr. Carrie Carda, president of the new firm, said in a statement.
