Mo. jobless rate drops to lowest level since 2007

Missouri’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate dropped three-tenths of a point to 5 percent in October, according to the state Department of Economic Development.

The figure is the lowest since April 2007, according to a news release.

Last month, employers added a net 1,400 jobs, led by:
    •    health care and social assistance, 5,500;
    •    professional and business services, 3,700; and
    •    construction, 2,800.

According to the latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the nation’s nonseasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5 percent in October and the Springfield metropolitan statistical’s area’s jobless rate was 4 percent in September.
