Mo. House speaker denies sexual relations with intern

Missouri House Speaker John Diehl on Wednesday afternoon apologized for exchanging sexually charged text messages with a freshman college intern.

The Republican from Town and Country said he didn't have sexual relations with the intern, but cut off further questions, according to the St. Louis Business Journal.

"I've apologized to my caucus and to people in my life who are important to me," Diehl told reporters. "It was a very regrettable, stupid thing to do. And I'm sorry."
