Mo. house approves ride-hail regulations for Uber, Lyft

The Missouri House yesterday voted to pass a measure designed to regulate ride-hailing companies like Uber and Lyft.

Uber has been vocally supportive of the measure, saying it would help create thousands of jobs.

The 115-34 House vote sends the bill on to the Senate.

The legislation would require ride-hailing companies to conduct background checks on drivers, ensure that vehicles are insured and provide riders with fare estimates steps Uber and Lyft say they already take.

Both companies support it, and Uber has said it would expand into Springfield if the law passes.
