Mo. home sales increase 9% in 2013

The Missouri home sales volume hit $10.6 billion in 2013, a 9.3 percent increase compared to the prior year, according to data released yesterday by the Missouri Association of Realtors.

During 2013, homes sold in the Show-Me State increased 9.3 percent to 67,474, at an average price of $155,778, a 7.5 percent bump compared to 2012, according to a news release.

Fourth-quarter home sales were down slightly from the corresponding quarter of 2012, though real estate agents sold at a quicker pace and at a higher average.

For the three months ended Dec. 31, real estate agents sold 14,720 Missouri homes, a 1.7 percent decrease compared to 14,980 in fourth-quarter 2012, the release said.

Homes sold during the fourth quarter spent 127 days on the market, a 6.6 percent decrease from 163 days in the same quarter of 2012. The average selling price was $157,378, a 9.6 percent boost from $143,556.
