Mo. home sales fall in August

Missouri real estate agents sold fewer homes in August, but at a faster rate and a higher average price.

Realtors sold 6,483 homes last month, a 7 percent decrease compared to 6,971 homes sold in August 2013, according to a Missouri Association of Realtors news release.

Homes sold at an average price of $178,631, a 7.3 percent increase, after sitting on the market for an average 119 days, a two-day decrease from a year ago.

Sales totaled $1.2 billion, roughly flat from August 2013, according to the release.
