Missouri's January general revenue collections were $4.5 billion, a 9.5 percent increase compared to $4.2 billion in the same month of 2011.
Through January, fiscal 2013 collections total $779.5 million, up 18.4 percent from $658.5 million through January 2012, according to a news release. The state's fiscal year ends June 30.
Fiscal 2013 year-to-date gross collections by tax type:
- Individual income tax collections increased 6.1 percent to $3.2 billion from $3 billion at the same time last fiscal year.
- Sales and use tax collections rose 2.4 percent to $1.1 billion from $1.08 billion.
- Corporate income and franchise tax collections bumped slightly, by 0.9 percent, to $237.9 million from $235.8 million.
- All other collections jumped 37.8 percent to $259.2 million from $188 million.
- Refunds decreased by 28.5 percent to $278.1 million from $389.1 million.
For January, individual income tax collections increased 8 percent from the same month in 2012; sales and use tax collections rose 14.7 percent; corporate income and franchise tax collections jumped 35.6 percent; all other collections increased 20.8 percent; and refunds dropped by 54 percent, according to the release.
