MO general revenue collections decrease slightly

February general revenue collections in Missouri totaled $397.2 million, a slight decrease compared to $398.2 million in the same month of 2012.

Still, fiscal 2013 collections increased 8.7 percent through February, to $4.94 billion from $4.55 billion in the prior fiscal year, according to a news release. The state's fiscal year ends June 30.

Fiscal 2013 year-to-date gross collections by tax type:
  • Individual income tax collections increased to $3.7 billion through February, a 5.5 percent increase from $3.52 billion at the same time in the prior fiscal year.
  • Sales and use tax collections rose 0.8 percent to $1.26 billion from $1.25 billion.
  • Corporate income and franchise tax collections rose 2.9 percent to $251.2 million from $244 million.
  • All other collections jumped 34.9 percent to $283.3 million from $210 million.
  • Refunds dropped by 16.5 percent to $564.8 million from $676.4 million.
Compared to the same month of fiscal 2012, February individual income tax collections increased 1.6 percent; sales and use tax collections decreased 9.5 percent; corporate income and franchise tax collections jumped by 62.6 percent; all other collections rose 9.8 percent; and refunds dropped 0.2 percent, the release said.
