Missouri's average retail gasoline prices rose 19.8 cents per gallon during the past week, averaging $3.19 a gallon Feb. 27.
State prices are 28.4 cents a gallon higher than a month ago and have increased 68 cents a gallon from the same time last year, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
As of 10:05 a.m., the cheapest gas in the state could be found for $3 a gallon at a Shell station in Independence. The most expensive gas could be found for $3.34 a gallon at a Shell station in Cameron.
The cheapest gas in Springfield could be found for $3.12 a gallon at six stations:
- Break Time, 2740 E. Kearney St.;
- Dillons, 1260 E. St. Louis St.;
- Casey's, 949 S. Grant Ave.;
- Conoco, 945 S. Campbell Ave.;
- Break Time, 1211 E. Grand St.; and
- Sam's Club, 3660 E. Sunshine St.
The national average hit $3.34 a gallon Feb. 27, up 25.3 cents per gallon from the same day last month and up 64.9 cents per gallon from the same day last year.
The U.S. price per barrel for crude oil was $89.25 as of Feb. 18, compared to $72.87 a year before, according to the most recent data available from the
U.S. Energy Information Administration.
April light sweet crude oil futures were trading at $97.76 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange as of 10:35 a.m., according to the
CME Group.
