The average price of gasoline in Missouri fell for the second consecutive week, after nearly three months of increases.

Missouri consumers saw a slight drop of 0.7 cents per gallon during the week of April 2-8, with an average of $3.74 on Easter. The average was 11 cents higher than a month ago and 10.6 cents higher than the same day last year, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.

Nationally, prices increased 1.4 cents during the week to an average of $3.91 per gallon, which was 16.8 cents higher than a month ago and 17.2 cents higher than a year ago.

"We're beginning to see refinery utilization rise, indicating refineries are coming out of maintenance and boosting production," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com, in the release. If we continue to see utilization rise at domestic refineries, we may see an earlier peak than we have in prior years."

This morning, the average price of gas in Missouri moved to $3.77 per gallon, low enough to land it in the top 10 on GasBuddy.com's list of lowest gas averages by state. Missouri ranked No. 9, falling behind Wyoming at the top spot with an average of $3.57 per gallon.

As of 9:14 a.m., the lowest price of gas in Missouri was selling for $3.53 per gallon at myriad filling stations, including the Springfield Sam's Club at 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive, according to MissouriGasPrices.com.
