Missouri's average retail gasoline prices fell 3.5 cents during the week of Nov. 7-13 to $3.14 per gallon yesterday.
As of 9:53 a.m., Missouri ranked No. 2 on GasBuddy.com's list of
lowest gas averages by state, falling behind New Mexico. South Carolina, which held the top spot Nov. 7, moved to No. 3. Missouri did not move from the spot it held last week.
"Even as crude oil comes close to $100/barrel, retail gasoline prices have held their ground and spot prices for gasoline have given up gains," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy.com senior petroleum analyst, in a news release.
State gas prices yesterday were 12 cents lower than a month ago but 40.4 cents higher than a year ago. The U.S. average, which decreased 1.1 cents to $3.43 per gallon during the week, was 4.4 cents lower than a month ago and 54.4 cents higher than the same day a year ago.
The lowest gas price in Missouri this morning was $2.90 per gallon, available at a filling station in St. Peters, near St. Louis. The most expensive gas, $3.39 per gallon, was selling at four stations in West Quincy in the northeast corner of the state, according to MissouriGasPrices.com
The cheapest Springfield gas, $3.13 per gallon, was available at Sam's Club, 3660 E. Sunshine St. Last week, Springfield gas was selling lower than $3 per gallon at Sam's Club, 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive.
Light sweet crude oil futures for December were trading at $97.65 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange as of 10 a.m., about $3 a barrel higher than a week ago, according to the
CME Group.
