The average price of gasoline in Missouri rose 7.1 cents during the past week to $3.05 per gallon yesterday.
As of Jan. 20, Missouri's gas average increased 8.4 cents during the past month but decreased 13.6 cents during the past year. The U.S. average, which increased 0.7 cents to $3.26 per gallon yesterday, rose 1.9 cents during the past month but fell 8.9 from the same day of 2011, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
At an average of $3.07 per gallon this morning, Missouri tied for ninth - along with North Dakota - on GasBuddy.com's list of the lowest gas averages in the country. At $2.78 per gallon, Colorado laid claim to the lowest gas average in the U.S., while Hawaii had the highest average, at $4.10 per gallon.
As of 9:10 am., Springfield Sam's Club locations at 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive and 3660 E. Sunshine St. - and a filling station in Osage Beach - had the lowest price of gas in Missouri, at $2.84 per gallon. At $3.29 per gallon, a station in Portageville had the highest price statewide, according to
MissouriGasPrices.com.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at $95.25 per barrel as of 9:13 a.m. Light sweet crude oil futures for February were trading at $95.15 per barrel on the
