Missouri’s average price of gas rose 5.5 cents during the past week to $2.45 per gallon yesterday, but the state still ranks in the top 10-lowest gas prices nationwide.
The national average increased by 5 cents to $2.71 per gallon during the week, according to GasBuddy.com.
As of yesterday, Missouri’s average was 16.9 cents higher than a month ago but 95.1 cents lower than a year ago. The national average jumped 26.9 cents month to month but fell 94 cents year to year.
"The rise we've seen in the national average over the month is showing signs of fading," said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst, in the release.
This morning, Missouri’s average dropped by 1 cent, ranking the state sixth on GasBuddy’s
list of the lowest gas averages in the nation. With its $2.38 average, South Carolina topped the list, while California was last with its average of $3.82 per gallon.
In southwest Missouri, eight stations in Monett and Republic were selling gas at $2.20 per gallon, the lowest price statewide. The highest price was recorded at three stations in Fairview Heights, Caseyville and Wood River, at $2.99 per gallon, according to MissouriGasPrices.com.
In Springfield, the lowest price was $2.28 per gallon at Sam’s Club, 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive. Prices elsewhere ranged from $2.31 to $2.36 per gallon.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at $59.42 per barrel as of 11:09 a.m.
