The average retail price of gasoline in Missouri fell 5.9 cents during the week of June 18-24 to $3.25 per gallon yesterday.
The national average dropped 7.9 cents during the week to $3.45 per gallon, its lowest point since Feb. 4, according to a GasBuddy.com news release.
The Missouri average yesterday was 13.3 cents lower than a month ago and 13.3 cents lower than a year ago. The national average decreased 21.7 cents in the last month and 14 cents in the last year.
Missouri's average gas price, which dropped another cent to $3.24 per gallon this morning, landed the state at No. 11 on GasBuddy.com's list of the
lowest gas averages by state. With an average of $2.96 per gallon, South Carolina held the top spot.
In Missouri, the least expensive gas this morning was selling for $2.99 per gallon at 10 stations in Dexter, East Prairie, Hayti, Scott City and Sikeston. The highest priced gas, $3.54 per gallon, was available in Kansas City.
Sam's Club, 745 W. El Camino Alto Drive, had the cheapest gas in Springfield at $3.18 per gallon, according to
MissouriGasPrices.com.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil was trading at $78.88 per barrel as of 9:07 a.m., and light sweet crude oil futures for August were trading at $78.46 per barrel on the
New York Mercantile Exchange.
