Missouri recorded 10,574 completed foreclosures for the 12-month period ended Sept. 30, a nearly 21 percent decrease.
For the year ended Sept. 30, 2014, 13,352 foreclosures were reported, according to a news release from real estate market tracker CoreLogic.
As of September, Missouri’s foreclosure inventory - measuring homes in some stage of the foreclosure process - was 0.6 percent, a tenth of a point less than a year earlier.
In the U.S., completed foreclosures totaled 55,000 in September, an 18 percent drop from 67,000 in the same month of 2014, according to the release.
The nation’s foreclosure inventory was 1.2 percent, or roughly 470,000 homes, down from 1.6 percent last year.
CoreLogic reports the national serious delinquency rate - defined as mortgages at least 90 days past due - fell 21 percent to 1.3 million in September.
"The rate of delinquencies continues to drop back closer to historic norms powered by improved economic conditions and tighter post-recession underwriting standards," said Anand Nallathambi, president and CEO of CoreLogic, in the release. "As we head into 2016, based on almost every major metric, the fundamentals underpinning the housing market are healthier than any time since 2007."
