Mo. foreclosures fall through January

Posted online
Completed Missouri foreclosures dropped 11.7 percent for the year ended Jan. 30, according to recently released data from real estate market tracker CoreLogic.

In the Show-Me State, 11,302 foreclosures were finalized during the 12-month period, compared to 12,806 a year earlier, according to a news release.

Missouri’s foreclosure inventory - representing homes currently in the foreclosure process - was at 0.6 percent in January, below the national average of 1.2 percent.

In the U.S., 38,000 foreclosures were completed during January, a roughly 17 percent decease from 46,000 in the same month a year earlier, according to the release.

"In January, the national foreclosure rate was 1.2 percent, down to one-third the peak from exactly five years earlier in January 2011, a remarkable improvement," said Frank Nothaft, chief economist for CoreLogic, in the release.
