Mo. employers add 1,500 jobs in June

The Missouri Department of Economic Development reported today the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for June was flat at 5.8 percent compared to May, despite job growth.

Employers added a net 1,500 jobs last month, led by accommodation and food services, administrative support and waste management services, and warehousing and utilities, according to a news release.

In the accommodation and food services industry, jobs rose by 3,900, followed by 2,300 in administrative support and waste management services, and 2,000 in warehousing and utilities.

The latest data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics put the national not-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate at 6.3 percent in June and the Springfield metropolitan statistical area jobless rate at 5.1 percent in May, according to Springfield Business Journal archives.
