Mountain View-based Morningland Dairy, which sells nationwide and to three Springfield businesses, is voluntarily recalling products produced by the company since January 2010, following a California Department of Food and Drug Administration notice.
Cheese samples were seized June 30 after traces of two types of bacteria, listeria monocytogenes and staphylococcus aureus, were found the in the company's cheese products at a California retail facility, according to a Missouri Department of Agriculture news release.
Missouri officials were made aware of the California FDA's test results Aug. 26, prompting the move by Morningland Dairy.
The recalled products were distributed MaMa Jeans, Farmers Gastropub and Home Grown Foods in Springfield, the release said.
The manufacturer also sells to Hyvee Health Mart in Columbia, Jeans Healthway in Ava, Seasons Harvest in Sparta and grocers in Kansas City and St. Louis, along with a host of other locations in Missouri.
Recalled products include all raw milk cheese labeled as Morningland Dairy and Ozark Hills Farm in packages dating from Jan. 1 through June 25.
Morningland Dairy is fully cooperating with authorities in the Missouri Department of Agriculture, the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and the Food and Drug Administration, according to the release.[[In-content Ad]]
