Mizzou to host local nonprofit class

Posted online
University of Missouri Extension on Sept. 8 is scheduled to host a class designed to help people weigh the pros and cons of forming 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.

The class - "Exploring the 501(c)3 Application Process: Should our Organization Apply" - is scheduled 8:30 a.m.-noon at the Greene County Extension Center inside the Springfield-Greene County Botanical Center in Nathanael Greene Park, 2400 S. Scenic Ave.

“For larger, well-financed groups, the decision to form a not-for-profit corporation and file for a 501(c)3 tax identification number is a relatively simple process, said Stephen Jeanetta, a state community development specialist with University of Missouri Extension and author of “Foundations Resource Guide: Creating a 501(c)3,” in the release. "But for many other - and smaller - organizations in Missouri, the decision whether or not to incorporate is not as easy to make."

The class - to be taught by Jeanetta - addresses the benefits of nonprofit status, requirements for application of 501(c)3 status, creating bylaws and organization. More information is available at http://extension.missouri.edu/greene.[[In-content Ad]]
