Mizzou professor suspended days after assault charges

Melissa Click, a University of Missouri assistant professor of communications who was charged with assault this week for confronting student journalists during campus protests last fall, has been suspended by the school.

University of Missouri System Board of Curators Chairwoman Pam Henrickson said Click had been suspended pending further investigation.

Click was charged this week with a Class C misdemeanor for an incident in which she was caught on video calling for "some muscle" to remove Mark Schierbecker, a student journalist, from a protest revolving around feelings of discrimination.

Her attorney said she plans to plead not guilty to the charge.
