With a current contract that runs through 2017, PowerMizzou.com reported this week University of Missouri head football coach Gary Pinkel is in line for a new deal and a raise after ending the 2013 season ranked No. 5 nationally.
Sources close to the negotiations told PowerMizzou.com, a division of sports website Rivals.com, Pinkel is expected to earn roughly $3 million annually, up from his current base pay of $2.35 million. He secured another $300,000 in incentives last year while leading the team to the SEC Eastern Division title and Cotton Bowl victory on their way to a 12-2 record. Assistant coaches also are expected to receive raises in the new deal, which would require approval by the MU Board of Curators.
The board is scheduled to meet this morning and may address the contract in an executive session for personnel matters.
