Mizzou instructor who confronted student journalist charged with assault

The city prosecutor of Columbia has filed an assault charge against a University of Missouri assistant professor of communications who confronted a student journalist covering protests on the campus in November.

Melissa Click is charged with a Class C misdemeanor.

She was captured on video calling for "some muscle" to remove Mark Schierbecker, a student journalist, from a public protest area on Mizzou's campus.

In the fall, several alleged racism incidents led to protests, a hunger strike and the resignations of President Tim Wolfe and Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin.
