The University of Missouri Board of Curators voted to fire embattled assistant professor Melissa Click.
Last fall, Click was caught on video calling for "some muscle" to remove student journalists from a public campus protest related to racial issues.
The professor had been charged with assault, but was instead given community service. She faced further scrutiny after the Columbia Missourian published a video in which she cursed at a police officer at Mizzou’s homecoming parade.
“The board respects Dr. Click’s right to express her views and does not base this decision on her support for students engaged in protest or their views,” Chairwoman Pam Henrickson said in a statement. “However, Dr. Click was not entitled to interfere with the rights of others, to confront members of law enforcement or to encourage potential physical intimidation against a student.”
