MIT launching venture capital fund

The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is launching a venture capital fund.

The school announced yesterday it's raising $150 million for the fund called the Engine. The university is contributing $25 million to the fund and seeking additional investors.

The Engine is dedicated to bankrolling startup companies in robotics, clean energy, biotechnology and other research-heavy sectors.
