Downtown developer Scott Tillman agreed in July to buy Thomas’ four-floor, 31,000-square-foot building at 134 Park Central Square and its adjacent 88-space parking lot.
Broker Sam Freeman of Center City Development Co. said the sale would be final in late January. He declined to disclose the sale price.
Thomas didn’t disclose the address of his new store but said that he hopes to sign a lease within days.
He said the new store will be in a high-traffic area and will only have 2,300 square feet of retail space, so he plans to significantly cut his inventory and target three furniture styles: retro, modern and contemporary.
“Anything that looks old-fashioned is not going to be in my new location,” he said. “I’m going to be … niche merchandising. It’s going to be more what I consider to be very much of a furniture boutique.”
