The Show-Me State's unemployment rate dipped in November, according to the latest report published Jan. 7 by the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center.
Missouri's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate ticked down to 4% from 4.1% in September, the most recent month with a comparable unemployment rate, according to a news release. The month's jobs report was delayed due to the federal government shutdown.
In November, Missouri's nonfarm payroll employment rose by 5,500 jobs to roughly 3.1 million compared with October, according to the release.
Mining, logging and construction gained 3,100 jobs, and manufacturing was up by 1,300 jobs. Offsetting industries included state government, which was down by 400 jobs month over month.
The Springfield metropolitan statistical area's seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll ranks were 240,800 in November, a month-over-month increase of 200 jobs.
The MERIC report indicates the private workforce in the Springfield MSA in November was 209,100, with those workers making average weekly earnings of $838.97.
