Missouri's unemployment rate was flat in September, according to the latest data from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center.
The statewide unemployment rate last month was 3.9%, according to a news release. That's the same as August's rate, which was up from 3.8% in July.
Nonfarm payroll employment in the state was down by 900 jobs to roughly 3.1 million in September. Private industry employment decreased by 1,300 jobs, while government employment was up by 400.
The Springfield metropolitan statistical area's seasonally adjusted nonfarm payroll ranks were 238,100 in September, a month-over-month decrease of 1,000 jobs, according to the release.
The MERIC report indicates the private workforce in the Springfield MSA in September was 207,600, with those workers making average weekly earnings of $904.48.
