Missouri’s minimum wage to rise next year

Posted online
The Missouri Department of Labor announced yesterday the state’s minimum wage will rise by 5 cents on Jan. 1, based on a Consumer Price Index adjustment.

The $7.70 hourly rate is up from $7.65 this year, $7.50 in 2014 and $7.35 in 2013.

The new wage rate does not apply to retail and service businesses with annual gross sales of less than $500,000, according to the release.

Missouri law dictates the state’s minimum wage must be calculated once a year to increase or decrease based on cost of living measured by the previous year’s CPI.

Employers subject to the minimum wage law are required to post a summary of the law and regulations. The 2017 poster can be downloaded here.
