The Jamaa Birth Village Cultural Heritage Center opened Missouri's first midwifery school in Ferguson, according to St. Louis Public Radio.
The school called Okunsola’s School of Traditional Midwifery will teach African Indigenous and professional birthing methods.
The school is backed by a $1 million multiyear grant from Chicago Beyond, a nonprofit that addresses inequities.
