Missouri writes up $20M to lure insurer across state line

Posted online

Missouri offered nearly $20 million in incentives to convince global reinsurance giant Swiss Re to move across the state line to Kansas City from Overland Park.

Swiss Re, which is bringing 400 jobs to Missouri, will have access to $19.8 million in incentives through the Missouri Works program during the next five years.

"My job is to fight for jobs," Gov. Eric Greitens said in a news release. "I'm proud to say that our work is getting results. We're taking the state in a new direction, with more jobs and higher pay."
