The Internet contains a handful of free recruiting sites and the number one by far is Missouri Works!. This Web site is a viable option for entry-level to top management positions. The service is operated by the Missouri Department of Economic Development and is found at www.missouriworks.com.|ret||ret||tab|

A company must first register to receive access to the services. The validation process might take 24 to 78 hours. Features include the ability to post job openings and review a database of job seekers. Labor market data is also available regarding wages, the unemployment rate and commuting patterns.|ret||ret||tab|

Placing an advertisement|ret||ret||tab|

To place an advertisement, first input relevant contact information in the various fields of a template. Second, al-though not mandated, enter details about the work schedule, salary, benefits, essential education and minimum age required. Third, choose the pertinent occupational group from a large pull-down menu. Fourth, pick a job title out of a comprehensive listing provided from the Dictionary of Occupational Titles. If desired, enter your own job title. Fifth, write the advertisement in the job description text box. Sixth, complete the text box providing application instructions. Be sure to include several ways to be reached, including a contact name, e-mail and postal addresses, and telephone and fax numbers. |ret||ret||tab|

The employer has the option of not disclosing company name and referring interested parties to the Missouri Work-force Development Office. Advertisers are also permitted to contact the Mis-souri Workforce Development Office to have their staff post the job, which is a time-saving alternative. The position is automatically posted, at no charge, to America's Job Bank, a service offered by the Department of Labor and the Public Employment Service.|ret||ret||tab|

Applicants interested in the opportunity will then begin responding to the ad per the instructions. |ret||ret||tab|

Resumes for the database come from two sources. Active job seekers register themselves and place resume information online for 60 days. State employees at Missouri Workforce Development Offices also enter data from individuals receiving unemployment benefits.|ret||ret||tab|

Finding job seekers|ret||ret||tab|

In only five simple steps, employers will be able to find job seekers online. First, if wishing to conduct a nationwide candidate search, click on "search other job seekers." |ret||ret||tab|

If desiring to only review applicants in Missouri, select one of 15 geographic areas separated by county lines. Second, choose the exact counties of interest. Third, click on the job title, such as sales representative, from an extensive pull-down menu. |ret||ret||tab|

The exact number of resumes in the database concerning that job title will appear. Once the employer points and clicks, a further subset of job titles will appear. Fourth, brief data on each candidate is displayed, such as an identifying number, city, state, key skills, number of months of experience, desire for full-time or part-time work and the date of the last information update. Fifth, click on the identifying number to view the resume. |ret||ret||tab|

Although the education and experience section is very scant, the employer will receive contact information enabling him to call the applicant and ask further questions.|ret||ret||tab|
